800th Year Garden Party

On 18 July, we attended the Summer Garden Party in celebration of the 800th Anniversary of the Cambridge University. The Garden Party was held in the University Botanic Garden, the largest gathering of University and College staff and their families ever seen in Cambridge.Perfect organization, nice concerts around, good food. We had great time.

A real belly laugh

Tugrul's colleague Gyongi is moving to Austria soon.She has two lovely kids who are growing up fast and are no longer interested in some of their toys. Gyongi kindly offered them to us. 3 packs of very nice toys!
Tugrul brought them home today and started showing them to Dennis one by one. After an initial interest and excitement, he suddenly burst out with the best laughter we have ever seen so far! He kept laughing and laughing, made us all (Tugrul,Rowena and Judit-our nanny) laugh as well. What a joyful moment!

Banana Puree

Dennis is five months old now. We decided to introduce a new food to his 'meal' to highlight this milestone. This was his first solid food and a new flavour other than 'the milk' in his world. He loves this new taste, and is very keen to have more different kinds of food...Next stage, Dennis will try some carrots...:-)!

CFAP Summer Party 09

Yesterday afternoon, we went to the Summer party organised by Tugrul's centre, the Centre for Financial Analysis and Policy (CFAP). It was a BBQ event at the lovely garden of John's residence at the Queens' College. The weather turned out to be an excellent one for the BBQ and we had great time. This was Dennis' first party and he was quite excited. Lots of hugs and cuddles plus the bouncy castle. What else could he ask for? Oh, he also met Tiago, the newborn of Jorge and Anne, who is only two months younger than him.

May Bumps 09

Today we went to see the final day of the famous boat race in Cambridge. It is called the "May Bumps". Since side-by-side racing is not possible over a long distance on the narrow River Cam the bumps format was introduced in the early 19th century as an exciting alternative.

In bumping races, different college teams line up along the river with one and a half boat lengths of clear water between them. On the start signal (the firing of a cannon) they chase each other up the river.

When a bump occurs (when one crew is hit by it's chasing crew), they pull over to allow the other crews to continue racing. The next day all crews involved in a bump swap places and the race is run again.

After the four days of racing, the aim of the top crews is to be at the "head of the river," i.e. they lead the first division.

Still no bumps!?

Open air feeding..He really enjoys it especially on sunny days like this.

Computer generation

Dennis took over Mummy's keyboard and was keen to type something. He almost managed to shut down the computer! Eventually, he got his own keyboard to play with!
